Salesforce’s founder and CEO said that Salesforce will be making a “hard pivot” to a new AI agent platform called Agentforce.
👉 Background: Salesforce is the OG all-in-one sales and marketing software for businesses that started in 1999. Since then, it has grown to be worth over $350 billion USD. It’s also the same company that acquired messaging platform Slack in a deal worth $28 billion USD.
👉 What happened: After 25 years in business, Salesforce’s founder and CEO said that Salesforce will be making a “hard pivot” to a new AI agent platform called Agentforce. Essentially, it will allow Salesforce users to build AI-powered agents, which can supposedly “make decisions’’ and automate customer service tasks.
👉 What else: In the latest investor update, Salesforce's CEO and Founder Marc Benioff mentioned the word “Agentforce” 80 times. Next minute - their shares jumped more than 11% to a record-high. And now, they actually need to deliver on these AI-agents.
💡Investor enthusiasm can only last so long… so when you talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk…QUICK.
💡Salesforce has been spending HUGE, “undisclosed amounts” on its AI division, so it needs to prove to investors that it has a ROI.
💡Salesforce have supposedly sold 200 deals for Agentforce, but they plan to have tens of thousands of people using Agentforce by January 2025. And given Salesforce’s market value jumped by more than $30 billion USD off the back of this AI announcement, it has pretty big shoes to fill.
